  1. On a keel raphe, the bridge of silica between portions of the valve on either side of the raphe, also referred to as keel puncta (specific to Bacillariaceae).
  2. Bridges of silica that subtend the raphe internally, which vary in shape from narrow ribs to flat sheets to more complex structures, producing a canal beneath the raphe (see canal raphe)
